Buying Guide: How to Choose the Right Cargo Trailer Size

Picking the right cargo trailer comes down to three things:

• What you're hauling. Motorcycles and ATVs typically fit in a 6x10 or 6x12; full-size vehicles need at least an 8.5x20.
• GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). Make sure the trailer's GVWR and your tow vehicle's capacity comfortably exceed the total weight of your cargo plus the trailer itself.
• Door style. A ramp door makes loading wheeled equipment easy; a barn door style is often preferred for tighter storage spaces or hand-loaded cargo.
